The two-edged Sword
The new Apogee album "The Two-Edged Sword" includes six epic Apogee compositions, which combine various elements of classic progressive rock in a characteristic way with a high recognition factor.
The musical spectrum also extends to influences from classical, heavy rock, folk rock, and jazz. The album's six structurally very complex songs are all between 7 and 14 minutes long and contain large-scale tension arcs, numerous odd rhythms and harmonic modulations, as well as atmospheric elements, catchy choruses, improvised guitar solos, and hymnic passages, as well as Apogee-typical orchestrations.
During production and mixing, we again placed great emphasis on natural dynamics and transparency, ensuring that each instrument remains clearly identifiable in the mix. As on previous Apogee albums, Ebi plays drums and percussion, and all other instruments and vocals are handled by myself. The mostly associative and abstract lyrics explore current issues in society, politics, and social media, as well as aesthetic and philosophical concepts.
